Well, my lift sold in hours.  Will now order a new lift that's wider and taller so the GX will once again fit in the garage.  I'm waiting for a bonus from the Air Force to get paid, once that happens I'll pay off the Cayenne.  Then I can start shopping, just have to decide what to do, trade in the GX or keep it...

Discovered that the alignment on the GX must be off.  My wife must've bumped something with the left front, as the inside edge of that tire is bald and the rest of the tires, while worn, are worn evenly.  So, new tire time.  What's the deal with BFG KO2's?  They ok in the snow?

Not sure how long I'm gonna keep this, so I've started to go through it a bit.  Replaced the wiper blades, replaced all the missing push pins holding the plastic engine trim together, replaced the cabin air filter (hvac fan works much better now!) got an alignment and put on a set of BFG KO2's.  I also got an AUX cable so I can listen to my tunes, as well as a phone charge cable and a vent mount for my phone.

Looks much beefier with those tires.  My LF tire had the inside half wiped out, hence the alignment being done.  RF tire was almost worn out, RR tire had a large screw in it (probably why it'd been leaking air), LR tire was ok.  So I had the shop put my old LR tire on my spare wheel and replace the rest.  Oddly enough, going from the stock 65 series tire to a 70 series tire saved me $250.  Yes please!

Used that $250 to buy a tow hitch and plug n play wiring cable for my trailer brake controller.  The truck is already  has a 7 pin plug on the back, despite it not have the tow hitch from the factory.  So next weekend I'll install the hitch and trailer brake controller, as well as do an oil change.

Then just wait to see when my Air Force bonus hits, pay off the cayenne and decide what to do then...

Small crossover for the daughter, keep the gx for you and buying a sports car all sounds like a fun plan to me.

Thinking something like a VW GTI or Honda Fit my my daughter.  Would like a small hatchback and a manual transmission.

Honing in on a 996 Turbo for me, it'll be a great DD and with a set of snow tires will do fine here in Denver in the winter.

Beefy set of AT tires change the look for the better.

The fit will be significantly cheaper to insure for a newer driver.

Today I installed the trailer brake controller and the tow hitch.  Was able to buy a plug n play harness for the brake controller from etrailers.

Will be able to tow the trailer and put my bike rack on the truck now.  Only have to change the oil now.

I never understand why folks have two SUV's.  You're both towing boats at the same time?  Both of you need to haul six kids at the same time?  Does not compute.

I have multiples of many things...4x4s, sports cars,  motorcycles, etc and I’m the only one that drives them.  For me,  the answer to your question is because I want them.   I don’t ‘need’ pretty much my entire fleet,  but man would I be bored if I based my purchases solely on ‘need’.

Several reasons.  First and foremost, my wife wants a small SUV.  Mama gets what she wants.  Happy wife, happy life.  Secondly, any car that I'd really want to have for myself, she can't drive as she refuses to learn how to drive a manual transmission.  So that leaves her car less if I grab her SUV to tow.  That's a problem.  I suppose I could buy a Golf R with a DSG tranny, but, well, I don't want to.  If I get a car like that, I want a 6MT.  So at that point, I'd rather just have an SUV for myself.

Got the tires rebalanced yesterday, had a vibration at freeway speeds.  Every single wheel was off.  Not sure what that first guy was doing, but clearly he missed stuff.

Also got the front windows tinted, pretty much done setting the truck up for me, just need to do an oil change and its good to go.

Are you sure the kid will want to drive in 3 years?  It seems to be a "thing" these days... I have trouble planning 3 months or sometimes 3 weeks ahead...  3 years?

I've seen a lot of Cayennes towing simple car trailers. Why not use that?

In reply to Ian F :

I towed the trailer with my last Cayenne.  I'm sure the new Cayenne will more than handle it.  It's more of an issue of not wanting to buy another car right this second.  I want to pay the Cayenne off, then take my time to decide what I want.

If I decide to get a car and grab the Cayenne from my wife when I need to tow, then I'll have to get an automatic equipped car, which I don't really want to do.  I suppose I could drop the cash for an RS3, which is DSG only, but if I'm going to spend that sort of coin, I'd rather buy a 911 Turbo and if I'm buying a 911 Turbo, I want a 6MT.

So it kinda makes sense to just keep the GX for awhile and see.  I know I don't want to keep the GX for myself AND add another car for me.  I already have two 3 season vehicles in my M3 track/street car and my motorcycle, adding another one seems redundant.  Plus then the GX would have to sit outside in the winter time and I really dislike having to scrap ice off when I need to get to work in the morning.

So it seems like I'm probably going to keep the GX for a bit, then most likely sell it and pick up either a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT or Trackhawk, or maybe the new Wrangler Pick Up, or Ford Ranger Raptor.  Assuming those two latter ones actually get released here and will fit in my garage...

The GX is a very nice ride seems like a good idea to keep it for now, pretty color too
