2003 and up have the 2.3l dohc engine, I have a late 03 model zx3 with one in it .. extremely reliable if maintained properly...

Hahaha, wow.

I ended up giving that Focus to my ex when her Saab 900 finally became too much of a money pit to stomach and she reliably put miles on it until 2018 (?) when she replaced it with a lightly used Kia Soul.

The rockers were starting to give out and there was surface rust all over underneath, but otherwise a decent enough little car. It did go through multiple rear wheel bearings though and I never figured out why.

There's a seal that does not come with the drum. IIRC it actually presses onto the spindle.  When it goes, brake dust and moisture get into the bearings.
