That's the only picture in this thread i really DIDNT like. And that included the stock BMW wheels on JG's car.

Yes, Enkei 92s and the like are allowed to be black with a polished lip.

This is what you want to avoid. It's like an episode of That's so Raven in the form of a car wheel:

I disagree, but only on the added studs on BBS and the like. Those wheels above are hideous.

That title should have read, "Sold the 5, getting another 5! One is obviously better than the other.

Slight hijack since this has turned into a wheel color discussion. Red car, what color wheels? I fixing to powder coat the 17" wheels I have for the E24. Silver is kind of blah to me. I don't hate it, but I don't love it either.

The gold wheels on the black 5 look pretty tasty.

The gold does look pretty good. So do the black with polished lip. All black, not so much.

How about something like this?

We both dislike the wheel I posted, so I'm not picking up on where the disagreement is.

Gold wheels would look pretty good. So would silver (not chrome).

That car is going to drink in that Florida sunshine. Advise us how baking cookies by leaving them on the dashboard goes.

I have a pic on my phone of my IR pyrometer reading 193 degrees on the hood of a black car this past summer. And we had a pretty mild summer for S. Texas...

My vote goes to black. I've got that kind of thing going on on my E30 and really like the look. Satin black or similar though, not shiny.

As a wiser man than I once put it "hot is hot."

The secret is good tint, a windshield sunshade, a good coat of wax and yearly a/c checkups. We've had a couple black cars and it's not as bad as you'd think. Or at least not as much worse as you think than anywhere else.

Actually, with all the rain we get in the summer, it's harder keeping a black car clean than keeping it cool.

I'm keeping an eye on which way you go here. I've been going back and forth between standard silver and something gunmetal grey for my black e46 wagon.

Hard to go wrong with something CSL style:

I'm getting tired of giant faces and rubber bands. Needs more dish and more tire, but black and gold is the right idea.

That is a good looking car, but yes it needs some new shoes. Personally I like black wheels, that being said gold, bronze or anthracite would look really good.

What's wrong with the stock wheels? Seems to me the money could be better spent elsewhere on the car or you could remodel the bathroom with the saved money and add more value to your appreciating-in-value house rather than your depreciating car.

I actually think it would be ok to paint the stock wheels. Dark bronze would be the ticket imo if you were to do that.

If you're going to keep the stock ride height AND the stock wheels id say it could use a small wheel spacer.

I agree with changing the wheels. I would love a 3 series wagon if I could find a manual version around here!

You know being sensible and pragmatic like that is just asking for a ban.

At least have the decency to suggest an LSx swap.
