Hokay, my bud with the GT6 is having some random engine thoughts. That boy is as automotive ADHD as me sometimes. Anyway, right now the high pressure 2.0T Ecotec from a SAAB is leading the powerplant parade.

That means we will need a Solstice/Sky bellhousing to mate a W58 'Yota box to the Ecotec. Anybody here have one for sale, a link to one for sale, or work for a GM dealer and can get me the P/N?

Could use a Supra W58 'box as well, will have a R154 for sale shortly if this all works out.

I thought the ma5 had the same Trans/bell pattern as a r154

It does.... though maybe it's different for some weird reason between turbo and n/a Solstice/Sky?

No, same for all Kappa cars.

Think about a T5 as well - they make adaptors and the transm, issions are cheap.

The Saab isn't the best version of Ecotec (LK9) to be using, BTW. You get only 210 BHP while you can get 260+ out of the LNF used in the Kappa (Solstice etc.) platform and use the Aisan 5 speed out of that car as well.

As I understand it, the R154 and the W58 have different mount bolt patterns and the Solstice/ Sky used the W58. Not a problem as long as the correct bellhousing is used.

On the engine differences, the SAAB 2.0T and the LNF share much architecture, most of the power difference comes from direct injection. Since this is a bit of a budget build in a ~2000 pound car, the extra 40 HP won't make a tremendous amount of difference. 210 HP should be more than enough to make it swap ends if the throttle is stabbed at 80 MPH.

The solstice used a r154 variant. I have spent a LOT time researching this. The solstice bell will bolt to your r154

I had one of the Solstice bell housings and sold it to another Opeler who used it to bolt a Colorado transmission up. The bell housing is at least 2" deeper than any Toyota one I have seen but the standard "big" bolt pattern.

Soooo, the 4 banger Colorado bellhousing won't fit a Ecotec? Or will it?

Will not, Colorado uses the "Atlas" I4/5/6 engine platform, not the Ecotec. The base trans is similar, and the bell housings can be swapped around onto tons of other Aisin transmissions.

That's real good to know, the trans we have will be much easier to move the shifter around on.
