I am doing a thing with my second e30 that involves a 328is motor and a e34 oil pan. Well as some of you know that puts the oil pan precariously low to the ground. Like 1.5 inches lower than the subframe kind of low.
Originally I thought that I would use hh&r sports for a 1.2 inch drop but that seems like way too much now that I see where the pan is.
Oh yeah. I live on a badly maintained dirt road.
I want stiffer than stock by about 2x to control body roll but not be super harsh.
What are my options? Paging all the e30 rally drivers
I have already been all over r3vlimited but the only thing I find there is the h&h&r oe sport springs which are still a 1 inch drop
Front's easy, it's a 5" spring so plenty of length's and rates out there (think circle track crowd).
Let's pretend that I know nothing about how to find that info.
How would I research that for myself? And where to get springs?

In reply to Daeldalus:
Summit racing, Jegs, and Speedway all have those.
get some ground control (or other cheap faux-coilover) collars sitting on the stock spring perches for the front and run 10" length 250# springs (I use a 2.5" diameter) with a flat top hat. With that weight and engine it should put you right about stock height.
Other option is stock e30 IX springs, which are taller and stiffer than stock.
Wait for Josh Sennett (bluej) to pull in here too. He has that engine in his rallycross car and has tried about a dozen different spring combos (several of which came off my rally e30, lol, but mine is a lighter M42 engine).

hmm, was not aware that circle track guys used that diameter. That may be a good option for rally as well. hmm.....
Which cheap coilover kit works? How does a 2.5 inch spring work? The strut insert is 2 inches then you have the coilover sleeve around that. Doesn't seem like enough room in there for that.
I seem to remember a forum post on here about how to use rockauto and moog to find the right size junkyard springs but I can't find it now.
Does summit/jegs just list springs by diameter and length?
This is the Ireland Engineering one, but it's the same as a Ground Control, I'm prettu sure.
Note tht you cannot use a dust boot inside it, which hasn't been a problem in several years of rally....
