Any update? My 08 Impreza is having this same problem and I haven't been able to find any fixes, I've replaced the ground and positive cables, new battery, 3 new alternators, all Napa remans. Is it really just horrible quality remans? It will run under an hour just fine as long as it's cold out, but as soon as the engine starts getting a bit warm the battery indicator starts rapidly flickering and then stays on. If I drive too long with the indicator on, the alternator will stop working altogether. If I let my engine cool back down the indicator will go off.

If you've really done all that and still can't get a consistent charge, I'd look at the belts and all the crap that guides and tensions them.

Long long ago, OP mentioned not getting cold AC. Belts are the commonality there.
