Its just a given that you need to have them built for power. They break at what 400hp on slicks.

They break at a stock 260hp on all seasons. 
The 4L60 in my 1996 Silverado 1500 Ext Cab had over 260k on it when I sold it in 2016. It pulled race cars around for a good part of the time I owned it, so it's not like it had an easy life. I never had one single problem with that transmission.

Same for my 01 Savanna, pulled a trailer for ten years with it. I'm not good at breaking stuff, maybe I need to try harder.
Other than a borked trans how is the rest of the car?
