Up here in Canada there used to be the Honda Michelin Challenge.  It was a support series for some of the bigger races.  My dad was a scrutineer for a while.  Great series very close racing and very much the precursor to the Spec Miata series of today.  In fact it was revisited in 2004

I lnow this is super old bit figured I would chime in.  There is a dude Rob up in Pennsylvania that has a bug all done like these that he hillclimbs.   It is freaking awesome and hands down the loudest car I've ever heard. When we would run pagoda and dureya I was always down around the start because I was the safety truck guy and when he would pull up I'd have to go around and get all the parents to cover their kids ears.  It made the guys running stock cars sound quiet.   I'll have to see if I can dig up some pics of it.

Yeah I don't know what it is about some of those "stinger" pipes but by far the loudest car I ever heard (no I have not been to an NHRA event) was a Baja Bug on I95 in Richmond.  Louder than any HD, Mustang, Camaro, straight piped diesel, even an F1 car.  It was berking NUTS!
