The original quad cam V12 developed for the sports racing prototype XJ13 intended for Le Mans. The engine looks sexy as Hell.

The SOHC street versions are pretty rugged, but you need to work at it to get big power out of them. I've seen them in rods and they are there for looks, not power. Same goes for the BMW V12 - modest power, great looks (and expense).

There are more cost effective ways of getting lots of power. If the car you are sticking it in has the engine bay length, just stick two 4 cylinder Ecotec motors together with CV joint for a good looking Straight 8 with 700 BHP.

I assume the limiting factor is head breathing? Porting do much good?

It doesn't have to be a Jag or BMW, but those are the only ones I can imagine being cost effective.
