Was going to say yeah, Sunday! We'll see how she shakes out. Last time we were there, we were running on 3 cylinders banging off boost cut, and it was generally unhappy. But hey we were in the ball park with the CSP miata's. I have a feeling they may not like us this time around.

Handily dusted off a Bro truck last night at the local Test n Tune. Passenger got out and specifically asked me if I wanted to run against "the big dodge". He had a big smirk on his face when I said "sure, I don't care", Tree'd him and ran the best run of the night against him. Don't get me wrong he was coming back on the big end, but it wasn't enough.

Yeah, big improvement autocrossing from last time!

Last time at the same venue our raw time put us in 26th place, 11 seconds off the lead.

This time our raw time put us in 6th place, 4 seconds off the lead. Every car in front of us was a serious machine (like $50K worth).

It was particularly nice to see the car beat a well-sorted Mustang with 775 hp.

Nice job, guys! (The credit is mostly due to you, Mr. Joshua and spinout007!)

There is more to say, but it's pretty late and I'm wiped. Will update tomorrow.

Personally-I'd like to thank NASCAR.

Yep-NASCAR for providing a source for a cheap used 400lb spring we could cut in half, and GRM for having a classified section where we could pick up a pair of double adjustable shocks to handle those 800lb springs in challenge budget. The car is the closest to a proper suspension as it has ever been. Waay better than at the last challenge.

Awesome to hear that you guys had a great event! Must have been encouraging to see the car perform at such a higher level!!

Yeah, I've got a new found respect for high level autocrossers fitness levels. After being sick as a dog Friday night/Saturday morning, I decided not to drive, but rode along for a few. Not having a wheel or handle to hold on to and trying to hang on and keep myself from flying around the car (in a tightened down 4 point harness)... WOW! Trying to figure out why my core is so sore today, oh yeah...

I'm not sure which took more energy- driving, or sorting out the endless sea of cones!

Yeah, im REALLY glad this wasn't my first event. Lots of confusion about where to go next on that course.

I know on my ride along I couldn't read the course from in the car, and I had been watching for most of the time I wasn't wrenching on the car.

We tech'ed on wrinkle walls.

Looking at the wrinkle wall pic made me think of our test'n'tune drag night. Our autocross progress is on target but thats where Miatae shine. We need to get much much faster in the drags to compete for the overall. So far we are at best matching what we did at the challenge, but on average we were slower. We have a tired motor, a little lower boost in first gear, and amusingly enough too much grip. Those wrinkle walls with low pressure just plain hook and the car falls out of boost and lugs its way out of the hole.

For thw future well have launch control, electronic boost control, higher boost and lots of time to practice technique. We still need at least two seconds, maybe three. Oh well, at least it looks and sounds good doing it.
