Well, finally got it on Saturday! Cant wait to start digging into it! Thanks to my busy schedule, i wont be able to start looking into it for another 2 weeks. Already found a trans for it if this one cant be salvaged. The new trans is up in North Carolina for $450, so just a couple of hours from me. Slapping a new clutch in, trans in, call it a day!

I'm confused, does that qualify as a ZAV?

Not running, no.

Once running probably, depending on how often it is broken down and whether or not the door locks work.

did it have those wheels on it or did you swap them on first thing while it wasnt driveable?

I dig Eurovans!

those wheels came with the van. He bought them, off a 06+ Jetta. Im planning on putting a fresh set of rubber on em and driving it once all the work is done.

Kickass. Is this a VR6? Could have a lot of potential, like the turbo-Dodge Caravans.

You should paint it like the Jetta.

In reply to DukeOfUndersteer:

Does it have the Audi bolt pattern? Do you know if Audi exhaust stuff fits the head?

Nice T4. The front bumper doesn't look stock, though.

Yes, 5x112. As far as I know, this is the same 2.5 inline 5 as the Audis. The P.O. put a CAT back on it with a little flared up tip. Looks good, wonder what it sounds like...

Sorry, I meant the bellhousing pattern, not wheel.

I tried to find a definitive answer on the eurovan vs. audi question and really couldn't. There were no 2.5 Audis as far as I know, but a 92.8mm crank (the stroke used in 2.0 VW motors) would get you 2.5L, so it may be the same block. I'm wondering, though, if the head is the same or interchangable. If so, you might be able to start with Audi 5000/200 turbo parts. If the bellhousing pattern is the same, perhaps you could mix 'n' match parts to make a transverse Audi 2.2 turbo. It probably is the same. The new 2.5 VW motors have the same pattern as the old Audis, although they don't quite bolt up. Those things are apparently a work of art, BTW. The guy at 034 working on the swap says it's the best flowing head VW has ever made. They've got a LOT more than 170 hp in them (think Lamborghini.)

If/when you figure out the turbo swap, let me know what you find. I have one of those engines sitting on my garage floor right now.

You have a van with a torsion bar setup. That alone is unique :p

Everyone loves eurovans!

Just watch out if you have a 5x112 wheel pattern because that is the same size as a mercedes!

You use the crank and block to make a stroker 20v. Custom pistons and rods required, and I don't know what you have to do to put a timing belt on it.

The Eurovan block is a tall-deck block, kind of like the difference between an ABA and an earlier four-cylinder.

The trick, as I understand it, is that the Eurovan cants the engine WAAAAAY the other way relative to the five cylinder placement in Audis. They put the "top" side on the bottom. So, you can't just plop an Audi engine in there, but everything is still there on the block for putting the Eurovan engine in an Audi.

You just have to clearance the hood a bit...
