Does anyone know anything about how these are holding up? I am in no position to purchase one but am curious if these are as maintenance free as a standard Korean car (within reason of course). Here is one at Carmax with 60k on the clock for what seems pretty reasonable given what I know about these.

Here is a rather similar (no idea on options) LS460L that is way over $10k more expensive

I can say I haven't heard much on the Genesis (short Equus, or is the Equus a long Genesis?) one way or the other. I love the sounds the engine makes though. That has to account for something.
In reply to Bobzilla:
The Genesis 5.0L R-spec (?) is on my list of big sedans should I ever find myself capable of owning such a car. I was just curious if the Equus is plagued with gremlins.

Mine too. But in all honesty, if they were plagued, I'm pretty sure SOMEONE would have pointed this out long ago about how their quality is inferior to "our car". To me, that lack of information is telling. If it was a turd, you can guarantee one of the other guys would be pointing it out.
I have limited experience with the Equus, I used to work for the 'Max. I appraised a few and they drove really nice, had a ton of features and space. They seemed to hold up well, the value certainly tanks at a pretty rapid clip but that's just better for you looking at higher mileage examples.
