since that caprice wagon turned out to be a rotten turd, i got in trouble on CL again.
the 2 year old kept his mouth shut, and 24 hours later mommy still has no idea it's in the garage.

oh yeah 1949 plymouth business coupe slated to be a gasser.
came with:
competition engineering rear tubular chassis and crossmember
front half of chassis made out of 2x4 tube
dana 60
4 new leaf springs
complete rolling straight front axle
complete body with title, all parts and trim, all good glass
new 28" hoosier slicks
some misc new crap like chrysler 440 headers that i can sell
i need to procure a steering box and some 2x4 steel tube to make my chassis. the rest should pretty much be hanging around here somewhere. i have engines, trans, driveshafts, indy mags, columns, radiators, wiring, etc...
and paint. need to pick a badass color
The first thing that comes to mind is the Ramchargers' High and Mighty '49 Plymouth: http://www.allpar.com/racing/high-mighty.html
I've only recently become aware of these things. I've never been a huge fan of late 40's cars, but I love the proportions of these business coupes. The huge trunks are almost Far Side cartoonish.
Cool score!

Seems to be the week to buy vintage Mopars :)
Nice score, can't wait to see what you make of it.
My first thought on seeing the pic was "Already got the big Hoosier slicks? Win!"
Good score, I love these.
Love it! Whatever color you choose has to have copious amounts of metal flake in it.
Oh, and spindle-mount halibrands on the front plz. Thx.

Well that's disappointing. Sell some of that junk in the garage and go get an early Hemi.

the only one local in my price range is a 53 331 that "ran when pulled and stuck in the shed 35 years ago". i want the thing to be fast, not just look the part. every 392 i find is $4K+
therefore it is getting my 454. i could grenade several of them before i could sniff a hemi. just be thankful it's not getting a 350 like everyone and their brother does to every classic everything. i'm trying to diversify my stuff, at one point all 5 of my running vehicles had 350's in them. and LS swap is not the answer here either.
as soon as i unload the trailer and get the body on a dolly to turn it sideways i'm building my frame table.
I'm clearly a child of the 80s because my first thought upon reading the thread title assumed it was going to be about a Cadillac Allante and these Nelsons would approve....
In reply to patgizz:
I get it. Still encourage a Mopar in a Mopar though.
The 454 should be more than a kick in the pants. I knew of a 354 Hemi around here, but not sure what they were asking. I didn't need to be tempted anymore than I already was.
my wife found out last night. not sure what she thinks yet, she just saw another car body in the garage when she got home from work. her dad does approve though.
