ok so my search for a sportscar and or a swap for my rx7 is over ! I bought a 2001 suburban z71 and instead going to focus on ZAV style fun !!!
ideas? tips? It's a 5.3L. awd(4wd), black z71, with the roof rack, sunroof, leather interior and all that. No navi or dvd players or any mumbo jumbo, BONE stock giggle slash squeal like a school girl. It's got high mileage (216k) but it's pretty decent and i got it for only $3500
turbocharger, tuned for low end torque.
Bigger off-roading tires, note I did not say to lift it. Steel bumper front and back with tow hooks, winches, steel roof basket with some high power off-road lights all around, rock rails/step bars to hang your buddies off of during a raid...
216k? Intake manifold gaskets, as many as you can afford 
Black steel rims with some BFG All-Terrains KO or Mud-Terrains. Get a spare tire mount on the rear bumper that swings out of the way to access the rear hatch. +1 on the steel bumpers and all the stuff that Raze already stated. Added in mounts for a Hi-Lift jack, shovel, rope, chains, and jerry cans (think of the stuff hanging off of a tank or military vehicle!)
is that a barn door or lift-gate rear door? the barn door ones are nice to have
It has a lift gate, so far my list is; a 2 inch leveling kit for the front, new rancho shocks all around, stock bumpers but a "runner" style light bar up front with the black magic hellas,and i do want a basket and all the emergency shovel,axe , gascan , and a few lights on top. along with skid plates, i saw some cool dimple die ones I liked. I did think about a turbocharger but at this mileageIi might want a 6.0 swap instead...
