I was the wheel design and release engineer on the CT120 program. The original plan was that was going to be a Mercury version of the ZX2 coupe as well as the Ford. These were the wheels planned for that, they were already tooled when the program was cancelled. The first run of the ZX2 SR came with the old CT20 GT wheels that looked absolutely awesome on both the CT20 Escort GT, the ZX2 and even on my Miata where I used them for road wheels. The second series of SR's got the old unused Mercury pattern wheels which I hated.

I had an s/r and they were the first thing I changed on it. That and a 2nd gen escort rear swaybar. didn't really need anything else.

I remember there being a set of hideous big rims from around ~2004 I wanna say that was just two ovals and one big "spoke" through the middle, but the ovals were oblong and offset and it was only in chrome so the wheels looked even worse in motion. I can't for the life of me remember their name or find a picture of them. Of course a lot of funny stuff comes up when you google image search "stupid chrome wheels" or "ugly 20" wheels".
