That it made it from 1983 intact makes it rare, let alone it runs and drives, out of an abandonedment auction. A 5 speed swap in these is easy.

I'm pretty convinced that if you air down appropriately, and choose your path wisely, you can take a heck of a lot of vehicles on the sand.

Somewhere my parents have a few old photos from Cape Point in the 70s and 80s with all sorts of non 4x4 vehicles. One guy used to bring his FWD cadillac out on the beach! I drive my XJ out in the sand mostly in 2wd but with 8psi in my high profile tires.

I lived in KDH when driving on Oregon Inlet was a little more fun (wrap around under the bridge, big tide pool, etc.) had a Tacoma and a Suburban during that period and the Suburban needed 4wd, but transfer case had some issues that made it an intermittent feature, and the Tacoma just flat out didn't need it (but had it...) both did fine in 2wd.

12psi was always my magic number.

IIRC all but the last year of 280ZX Turbo were automatic.  Nissan didn't trust their own transmissions to last behind the turbo engine.  The last year (maybe last couple years?) they had optional Borg-Warner T5s.

I came home across the Riegelsville bridge this evening to see these in the parking lot at the inn. The MB is a regular, the MG is a P type and far from stock. If it still is in the same ownership as I last saw it it is about 40 miles from home too.

That's a neat bridge. Designed by one of the big names. Roebling maybe? My FIL grew up in Riegelsville.

Thanks for confirming. I was just going to edit my post to confirm Roebling after some google time...

Unicorn correction time, that is a Q type MG, so far less common than a P type, but also it is a one off special of some note in the VSCCA. It is a mix of P type and Q type, with the chassis being the longer Q, but the larger 939cc unsupercharged P engine and regular gearbox. The absolute unicorn.

I saw a yellow ITR of similar vintage the other day, but didn't get opportunity to snap a pic. I actually like the Civic you caught better.

Not quite sure where to file this one.  Not a Unicorn, but saw it in the parking lot and had to share. I think I want to party with that dude.
