This was our first time at The Mitty and we had a blast. Great to see all of the old cars and the racing-it inspired me to get busy on the Capri project. It was very well done and what I would have expected by an event sponsored/by GRM and Classic Motorpsorts.
I had an awesome time. And I can't wait for next year.
The Mitty is always one of my favorite events of the year - it's a crying shame I had to miss it this year. Glad to hear you guys had a good time!
Anybody got any pik links up yet ?
Mongo made the trip sans trouble, the old boy just made life rough on the entrance hill. That was a story, and I was stressed.
I had a blast, we were first time venders and Mongo was parked on Vender Row, AC, cold drinks, a rel bed and running water, wow I was spoiled. I didn't see much racing between fixing the Rustang (water pump then clutch cable) and running around. Caught up with the Hongs, FGC, MattB, 93EXCivic, Karl, Greg Voth and many more.
The weekend was a blast as always and many thanks to all the GRM staff for their help, friendship and efforts.
Mongo! Corrado provided for size comparison.

MattB & Ms.B, professional storytellers, tell the tale of "Mongo and The Hill".

Karl & Marie, taco chieftains.

Trust, but verify.

EDIT: direct link doesn't work, but copy & paste in the browser does.
I like this one

This just needs a caption

Looks like an awesome time. . . I missed a cold Stella, Mongo, the taco chieftains and Mitty shenanigans . . .

Did we hang out? Got pickled with a bunch of folks Saturday night/Sunday morning. There were no formal introductions though.

I don't know. I didn't make it up to the tent on Saturday night because I spent forever trying to dissemble a Spitfire rear end and suspension to fit them in the back of a Civic.

Now that is the definition of GRM right there.
I was frantically searching for the bottom of a bottle of Scotch at the time.

Thanks for not sharing, btw. (Joking,) I did realize when I emptied the cooler, I had a bunch of different beers for us to sample, and we never did :(

For $20, I'll tell you where Tim keeps his secret stash of adult beverages
First time I've been able to watch the racing at the Mitty. I had plans to spend more time socializing, but kinda got stuck at just watching racing. And I liked it!
I don't like watching racing. I wish you could pay less to get in if you promise only to drink.

Since when did you need an invitation? Who are you and where is Poop?
Mohr beer, Challenge accepted

I found myself watching the Triumphs, the other Production cars, and the LMPs (wish there'd been more GTP). But if you don't get off the fence every once in awhile, you miss some great stuff.
Kastner & Tullius reunited, Friday evening.

One of the guys at their table said, "We've been waiting 40yrs. for this to happen!"

Probably an odd thing to say after a vintage race weekend - but I'm usually more interested in the newer racing cars than the old stuff. Meeting those guys wasn't as interesting to me as the chance to crawl all over a 2005 Audi R8 that was stripped down in the pits. I was the guy checking out wing profiles, not so much looking for factory Triumph secrets.
I have to give props to every single team in the pits. Not only did they put up with us oogling their cars as they worked on them, we got actively invited to come up close and check it out.
Although now I have an interest in an F5000 replica. Rudimentary aero, a naked engine and a big noise
By the way, I have also decided there is a rule that a 911 is required to be on track at all times during any sort of race event, modern or historic. I even saw one out with the open-wheelers on Sunday.

Yeah, that was fun so thank you everyone for attending. Now, to get my voice back.
Guys and gals,
We would like to hear more from those of you who were at our event this weekend. What did you think? What would you do differently? What would you like to see added or subtracted for next year, etc? Thanks, and yes, we are making plans for next year and thanks for making the Classic Motorsports Mitty such a great party.
Only thing I didn't like was that the food vendors and the shuttle stopped running really early it seemed. I don't know if you have any control over that though.
CM/GRM Grudge Match Night at the slot car track? Readers vs. staff, or CM vs. GRM, fans vs. (real life) drivers, or...? Don't know how popular it would be, just sounds like it might be fun.
GRM needs their own Corral for the oddballs we drive around.
As a 1st time vendor, more vendors.
Make sure Karl brings back the Taco trailer.
I'm sorry I didn't make it this year to grace everyone with my presence. I promise, next year I will be there!
There is something inexplicably magical about Karl & Marie's tacos. I just don't understand it. That was oregeno, right? I LOVE this event.
I will say, the entertainment was bad. REALLY REALLY BAD. Like, it made me uncomfortable bad. I was really looking forward to seeing Wes Cobb again. I understand it's all cover tunes, but that dude is really entertaining. If we're just drinking and hanging with background music, I can do that at my own tent, with my own beer, and a radio.
One reporter's opinion. I wouldn't have said anything publicly if you hadn't asked.
That's my only complaint, and I suppose it's probably an insignificant one. Again, I really love this event. I look forward to it every year!!!
Thanks GRM!
