I'd stick with my favorite underrated Japanese sedan, a 4th gen Maxima. Quick, pretty comfy, decent MPG, and an 18ish gallon tank. Lots made, good parts availability, and manual or auto available. I would love to do this sometime, but this summer is a no-go.
