So my tires are really worn and dry-rotted on my Durango, so it's time for a new set. The problem is I have been looking for cheap 16" SUV tires and that has been a pain in the ass. I am also ditching the All-Terrain tires, which has made the search a little more difficult for myself. Ihave absolutely no use for A/T tires; I don't off-road and they suck in wet/snowy conditions. My other issue is that I'm strapped for cash. Bad. It looks like I will have to buy either one or two at a time, luckily a friend has a tire machine I can use.
So luckily I found a brand called Prodigy that Discount Tire offers, it's in my size and it's only $100 a tire. According to the internet, Prodigy is made by Yokohama, which that doesn't seem to be a bad thing. I read through the customer reviews and they seem mostly positive.

With the whole cash-strap thing, do you have to buy new?
Is there anything in your size or close on your local CL?
In reply to jrw1621:
I had a bad experience with used tires once. I prefer to buy new. Especially since this is the wife's daily driver too.

If you don't mind a little (and by that I mean a LOT) of road noise, try Primewell. Its Firestone/Bridgestone's off brand tire. Cheap, good looks, but not exactly what I'd call quiet. I have a set of Primewell Valera H/T on my van and they really kick ass at darn near everything, except noise. I put a set of Primewell 215/40-17 on my wife's Scion and they perform very well, but they're noisy enough that I double check the bearings every once in a while. Cripes, her snow tires are quieter than the Primewells.
But, cheap, perform pretty well, look good... just noisy.
X2 on the Primewell recommendation. Got 'em on a big 2500 4X4 Dodge and can't say that I've noticed any more noise than the more agressive OEM BFG Rugged Trails they replaced. Tread patern is actually very similar to that Prodigy.
Does anyone big carry Primewell? I've seen the brand before, but I have no clue who carries them.

Funnily enough i drove a customer home today and he had a durango with those tires on it!
I had no reason to ask his opinion of them, though. It's just a useless coincidence.
I have them on the teg. No complaints. Probably 10k miles in. Paid $250 mounted and balanced. Tough to beat.
