As some of you know, we inherited an NA Miata and I am starting to play around with it a bit. The car is in great shape, but has no options, other than a hard top. My buddies at Treasure Coast said they would start looking for stuff like a limited slip, power steering and A/C, but that especially the viscous LSD is getting harder to find.

Against my better judgement, I am thinking about just finding a loaded parts car and taking what I need. that would get me every clip, bracket, etc. so that I can add some options to our car.

Since we still also have an off road Miata and a race Miata in the stable, I am pretty sure we could use every part eventually.

Obvioulsy I would rather find a nicer car with damage, rather than a worn out rat. Anyone have something like this or know someoe who does?

Or please talk me out of this, as I am really too busy to go back to stripping Miatas.

What I considered a parts Miata 5 years ago is now a good driver candidate. Hard to find cheaper a Miata because everyone knows what they got.

I was wondering if the sub $1000 Miata is now a thing of the past.

Tim if you buy a parts car you will be working on the car twice: first pulling the parts out of the donor and second putting them in the driver.

I know you have lots of spare time these days (full sarcasm on) but perhaps the time you would have spent pulling parts could be spent with your lovely wife.

Just saying............................................

This is how the GRM hive ends up with 10 years worth of work and mounds of parts................buy what you need as you need it.

+1 for Miata Fix.

I also agree that while buying a Miata was the move in the past, but now with the prices climbing, I'm convinced you're in the boat of just sourcing what you need and use your limited time chasing other things.

Just my 2¢
