IDK how new this is, but first time I've seen it. Pretty excellent.

  1. Because it is an update of a classic commercial

  2. Because it has one of the best lines ever from a commercial

  3. Because 2 Rolls-Royces in a car chase.

That's what I get for avoiding O/T.

Why, you ask? Because, I already spend too much time in this madhouse already :)

There's no such thing as spending too much time here AND avoiding O/T.

I thought that was John Cleese in the chase vehicle...

Something about that made me think of Caddyshack. Too bad Ted Knight isn't still around...

I wonder what the deal is with the weird headlights and grilles on those cars - I assume they're avoiding having to pay royalties to RR for their image.

seems odd that they'd have to. I just saw a commercial where the family was driving to some supermarket in their minivan, but I doubt Safeway is paying royalties to Chrysler....Assuming you own the vehicle, I don't think the manufacturer "owns" any rights to how you use it or portray it. Else LeMons would be screwed :)

If that were the case, they'd owe royalties to 007 as well!

Hmmm,,, look closely. The Mustang in the boner pill commercial has the grill emblem removed. The BMW in the insurance commercial has the grill altered. The MAACO commercials often feature frankencars - a little bit of everything.

It is a fine line - they often want you to recognize the car but at the same time delete any brand reference, emblems, corporate logos, etc.
