We're talking Tony Hawk-approved, three-stripe tube socks, right?
My wife works in a hospital and my job has cut my hours (I know I'm grateful I'm not laid off) so I'll re-up after things kinda shake out for us. I don't want to spend anything I don't absolutely have to until I know we won't get an involuntary 2 weeks off.

Should have sent this via PM, then given us the gift of an Easter Egg in the form of an Interstellar Sledgehammer 2020 Fall Tour magazine ad!
Dammit! That would have been cool
Although the venues listed would end up being the individual rooms of my house and the tree 6 feet from my door since all the venues are closed lol

I might buy an ad so that my car can finally make it into the magazinen
I was pretty happy the Rampage showed up in the magazine a month after I bought it actually

You mean there's other kinds?
Late to the party as usual, but there's some sweet sweet tshirt and Patreon money coming your way, GRM. Happy to help out.
New subscriber, but longtime reader and forum lurker. This article and all the posts from everyone just flat out pushed my buttons and made me realize that I HAD to support this place. What kind of magazine/online forum gets this kind of loyalty these days? (Outside of the political arena) There's nothing else like this. Love it.
Just re-upped the GRM sub. last week. Been wanting to check out Classic, so what the heck, bought a sub. Have been reading GRM since the 80's when I had my Triumph Spitfire. Wanted to do all the Ro-Spit mods except use a 231 v6 Buick, until someone stole while I was moving. Still miss that car.

Funny I was just thinking today of doing an "AC pegs it again" ad.

I was thinking nomex, although I'm more likely to die in a failed McTwist than I am in a racing incident.
McBail. While my arm was healing, I asked my orthopedist if I could go skating. Then he starts with this, "I often see men of your age who think they can still skate..."
Bastard. (Totally not wrong, either.)
And thanks again, everyone, for the support. It means so much.
Okay, figured out how to get Patron to charge my card instead of demanding PayPal or something.
Sent the first $20, but their replies make it look like my monthly contribution will be only three bucks.
That is *not* what I had intended to do. I coughed up on the 'reader' side, don't care about added flair on my nym.

I gave up and just figured $3 is all that was gonna happen and I'll just buy some other stuff.
I suck at technology, I killed the Sydney metro system a couple times when I was there

My daughter once asked me if I could teach her to surf (I grew up on the NC mainland, across the Pamlico Sound from the Outer Banks. Guess where we went when we ditched a day in high school). My mom retired to Ft. Walton Beach, FL, we went there quite often when she was a kid.
"Hon, you remember all those jokes about dads getting on skateboards or BMX bikes and breaking a leg or something?"
Daughter: "Oh yeah! (her friend's name redacted) dad actually *did* that!
Me: "In the ocean..Dad drowns, instead of breaking something. Let's go to the surf shop, I'm sure there'll be someone there who would *seriously* be interested in giving you lessons!"

I'll probably figure it out eventually. Truth be told, I've been declared "essential" during all this crap. My career's in TV, I've always kind of enjoyed trying to keep up with tech since my industry has been riding the forefront of it. That being said:
I'm not happy right now. Might contribute to the "That Didn't Take Long" thread soon, since that's what I do at home after being out in public all stinking day. :D
Looks like my renewal just came in the mail too. Time to do that! (normally I've done renewal at the Challenge)
*Note ^ I should have Forum supporter from doing Patreon yesterday? Greg at Gregory W Smith dot com

I wish I could say that slashing prices would solve things, but it's not a conversation about price. Budgets aren't being lowered, delayed, or anything else: They're being removed. Simply put, companies don't want orders while their employees are at home.
Well, I'm not saying you'll get a lot of play from this, but maybe offer some space to people here for ads?
It may just be a bitchin Interstellar Sledgehammer ad, or my wife's House of Sparrow stuff but it's another way we can get you guys some money
Not sure what a full page ad costs, but that could be an interesting 1-off if none of your regular advertisers minded. Do a month (maybe two) with forum-sponsored ads for imaginary products/pictures of peoples cars.
In the mean time, off to the store to spend money on shirts and subscriptions...
EDIT: Lots of things bought. Building on Hasbro's thoughts on mugs....maybe pint glasses with GRM logo and/or Dork status on them? When I've ordered large batches for work, they've been pretty cheap to get made. I'd be in for a 4 or 8-pack, and I think we probably have lots of beer drinkers here.
My GRM subscription is current, but I just added a 2-year CM subscription. Would signing up for the $2000 Challenge for this year also help? I don't have a car secured yet, but plan on showing up with something.
You can never be too prepared, right? Can I get in on the toe tags? I may need one one of those.
Great. Now I want a Toe Tag key chain for my car.
On another note, is there a way to contribute directly from my bank account and avoid PayPay/Paetron/Creditcard fees so GRM gets all 100% of my meager contribution?
NPR does that, but NPR is a non-profit . Well, almost everything is a non-profit right now, but I digress.

I'm still playing hockey and I'll be 68 in four weeks. There are at least four guys on the team who are older than me, by as much as 12 years, so tell your orthopedist to shove it.

If you have a PayPal account, and send money from a bank account (rather than credit card) and to a friend, rather than a merchant, there are no fees. Tom posted GRM paypal info on page 10. Hope that helps.
Tom,
What has changed? Did I not see a post from Tim about a week back basically saying that GRM was fine and not to worry? I was hoping that this was going to be about GRM doing something to help those less fortunate and instead it is a cry for help that GRM is going away if we don't by your stuff and up our scrips.
