I dunno...they all look pretty rough. I think there will be a lot of sheet metal replacement involved no matter which body you start with.

First gen F-bodies bring good money. I think I would tell him that you want to bolt the carb on, manually put some gas in the carb and see if it will run without knocking. If so and its rust free underneath its worth that price IMO. Without running the way it sits I think its more of a $5000 car. It always makes me nervous when I see a car without a carb like that. How much junk has found its way into the intake? Did they take off the carb to hide the fact that it has a bottom end knock or smokes like a mosquito fogger? If it had a more common engine then NBD, but that engine isn't common. Another thing to note is I'm from Ohio where rust free cars bring a premium, in California it might be worth a lot less than what I'm thinking.

The photos don't help matters but from what I can see the body is in good shape. That alone would bring a good price here in Minnesota, assuming the 428 is OK I think $7500 is a pretty good price.
