Way cool. I'm a sucker for rally cars that aren't from the usual suspects.
I'm 99% sure that car was still around, at least as of ~8 years ago. And still doing rallycross at least, not sure what else these days.

Funny, but I was working at a VW dealership selling those Beetles during the whole Y2K thing. Good times, good times....wait, they weren't great times. That came when I left the car business but not my love for things automotive.
Those were the days!
In 2000 we commenced building a Mk4 Golf and went on to win the 2001 ProRally national championship. The rally success of the beetle the previous year was one of the factors that encouraged us to move up to the new Mk4 chassis. Well, that and the almost limitless torque of the TDI.
so, not Rally, nor RallyCross... but is NewBeetle.... the above reminds me of the HPA twin-turbo VR6 AWD new beetle that ran OneLap back in 2007?
