I'm slowly converting my car from Spec Miata to F Prod. I've run two races so far on the Toyo's, but just picked up a set of Hoosier bias-ply slicks. They fit a 15X7 wheel, but they are about 8" across the face of the tire. I'm worried that they might rub against the shock/spring even without flexing.
Has anybody tried this combo on a fairly stock suspension set-up?

People run 225 Hohos on a 9 inch wheel, with just a fender roll. The section width of the 225 A6/R6 is about 9". I think the offset for this combo is around 35mm. And I think you're limited to a 2.25" spring diameter.

Are they cantilever slicks?
My knowledge of cantilevered slicks is very limited, but from what I understand, they are.

What's the offset of the wheel, and what's your spring diameter? We ran a set of cantilevers on one of our cars with 2.5" springs and a +30mm offset with no clearance issue.
The offset is +35. The shocks for Spec Miata are Bilsteins from the '99 sport model Miata. They have a sleeve that goes on the outside of the shock, and the springs are just big enough not to rub on the sleeves.

Probably 2.5" then. You should be fine.
We managed to cram a 275/35/15 on a 15x8+35 wheel for our Challenge Miata. With some substantial fender massaging, it worked out alright and clears front/rear without stupid amounts of camber.

Explain please "Cantilevered Slick"?
Cantilevered slick on a 15x8 wheel. The slicks are designed to allow a wider tire on a wheel that would normally be too narrow.

That looks like a b*tch to mount on the wheel!
Yeah the tire guys aren't please about it that's for sure. Based on the condition of my wheels it's hard to do without scratching the rims. There is some kind of trick but I'm not sure what it is.
Well, they worked just fine. I have too much camber in the car for the slicks, but I can fix that. Qualified 2nd, .004 secs out of 1st. Had a great race, and made my move under braking into the last corner on the last lap and came out ahead.
Should have checked the memory card in the camera, cause all I got was 2 minutes of the warm up lap before it got full and shut off.
D'oh! Awesome success though.
