When it says 1/32 of toe in, where is that 1/32 measured? At the rim edge? The tread? Because 1/32 at the lugnuts is a much larger amount of toe than at the rim edge.

Yep, it is. I generally take it to mean at the rim edge, since that's where alignment heads are mounted and it's a more accurate point compared to a tire sidewall. Since it's not real possible for me to measure that way with toe plates, I generally add a bit i.e. 1/32 at the rim edge would become 1/16 where the measurement point past the tread is. Most newer alignment machines are set up for minutes of arc rather than actual measurements.
I can mess with toe later at home if I want to. Im just going with a Lannys alignment for now, same as I always do...

yep, on the miata you want to do either 0 toe, or go a bit out if you want it 'spirited' If you do a lot of highway driving like I do then 0 toe is the way to go.

If you go slightly toe out, does that make the car wander on the highway or just make the tires wear faster? Or perhaps it makes it twitchy? I might do a little toe out next time.
It likes to follow ridges in the road but it definitely likes to turn Turn in after I got some toe out dialed in has been awesome.
