Well Ladies and Gents, Lets just say I'm completely stumped on this situation and somewhat torn over this car right now. I finished my swap not too long ago (240sx, RB25DET w/ 300zx Trans) and progressively started having issues with my transmission and or clutch (JGY Customs flywheel and 4 puck clutch kit). Whenever I put it in gear, after about 3 seconds it starts making a grinding noise if I just sits there. I can rev it or drive it and it will go away. This is NOT a chatter, this is a grind. I pulled the transmission today and nothing seemed to be wrong with the clutch install. I took the clutch kit to work (I work for a Honda dealership) and all of the other techs said there was nothing visually wrong with it. I was told to check if there was play in my crankshaft or input shaft. There is zero crank play, very very minimal side to side input play. I am completely lost with where to go from here. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Has anyone heard of these symptoms before?
Could you have a shield or something like that making contact with the flywheel?
Look for excessively shiny areas on the front and the back of the flywheel.
Also, could it be your throw-out bearing or pilot bearing?
Checking the freeplay of the crank will help determine if perhaps your flywheel or crankshaft are contacting the engine block.
Sounds like a pilot bearing, maybe.

It could possibly be a throwout bearing issue? It definitely wasn't throwout bearing noise, but maybe an issue with itself or the clutch fork? My friend recommended replacing the hydraulics (which I'm just going to do for the heck of it), but it seemed not even remotely like that was the issue. Also, a guy at work stated it sounded like pressure plate issues. I have no clue...

Possible pilot bearing

Pilot bearing will make noise if the tranny is in gear and you are holding the clutch pedal down (the input shaft is not turning).
If the noise happens or it changes when you just start to press the clutch pedal down, it's the release bearing or release fork.
If the noise happens as the clutch just starts to engage, it's probably the disc or pressure plate.
If the noise happens with the clutch pedal all the way out, it's somewhere else. The most likely suspect in that case is the input shaft bearing (also called the first motion shaft bearing). I have seen lots of those make noise but they look just fine. But that usually gets described more as a whir.

Pilot bearing for sure then. Thanks guys.
just out of curiosity.. how light is your flywheel? I have heard of some cars making quite a bit of noise with lightened flighweels due to the lack of harmonic balance and excess weight to dampen out the crankshaft's "pulses"
