when i put a 94 Caprice radiator and electric fans in my 74 Monte, i had to figure out where to plumb in the Caprice expansion tank.. the tank had 2 lines going to it- one at the bottom, one at the top. i eventually wound up tapping into the lower radiator hose and one of the heater hoses. i tried a couple of other places, but the hoses would suck shut when the engine was started.

i got the T fittings from NAPA.

On second thought, I could tap into the heater core. It would be easier to mount the expansion tank in a place that had access to the heater core. The only issue is the 1/4" nipple that's on the radiator would require about 10 feet of hose to get back to the tank in that location.

So if so many GM vehiculars use expansion tanks, it seems like any of those would be a viable option. Is there an OEM expansion tank that can be junkyard found that is smaller (or slimmer) than most?

it probably has to go before the waterpump due to the "suction" effect.. otherwise it would be pushing liquid into the radiator.
