Megasquirt noob here. I replaced my outdated FJO on my 4AGE-powered AE86 with a MS3Pro. I recently finished rewiring the car, along with updating the ignition.

I am in the configuration and setup stages of my project, which is exciting! I am using Tuner Studio to enter in the details as it came with the ECU and seems to be commonly used for Megasquirt. Much of the basic settings and configurations are straightforward enough, but I am struggling with designating things like idle control, fan control, and extra sensors. I know how I wired the car, and my frame of reference is the MS3Pro harness (and corresponding manual) which has handy printed labels on the wires. The drop down menus in Tuner Studio seem to reference pins/circuits on the MS board (things like FIDLE, IDLE, pin D15, etc) These designations are all Greek to me as the MS3Pro circuit are assigned and the pinout and included wiring harness is labelled with things like Idle Out 1, Digital Switched In 3, PWM Out 2, Stepper IAC Out 1B, etc. The MS3Pro manual walks you through setup but doesn't specify more detail than, "use this menu, assign inputs/outputs as needed."

How does someone who didn't solder up their own board go about making sense of the disparity? Is there some magical translation key I am missing? Should I split open the case on the ECU and trace everything? Should I use another program other than Tuner Studio? Are there different Tuner Studio versions for MS3Pro vs MS2/MS3?

Make sure your project is set up for the MS3-Pro, not the regular MS3. If the project is set for MS3-Pro, the pin names should match the MS3-Pro wire labels.

My experience is with MS1, and in that, you have to set a channel up for idle control, plus build on some circuits. You need to find out what the MS3pro thing has for Idle Control, what channel it uses, etc., and configure it in Tuner studio accordingly.

Guess Matt beat me to it.

Matt, thanks for the tip! I wasn't able to find a way to change things in Tuner Studio, so I just loaded the latest MS3Pro firmware from DIYAutoTune into the ECU and voila....the correct options/labels!

Hess, you hit the nail on the head...we are all talking about the same thing! MS3Pro has several options for idle control, but I couldn't pick the right channel because I was looking at a list of MS3 configuration options, instead of looking at a list of MS3Pro configuration options...but all is fixed now!

I love it when the solution turns out to be
