We just wrapped up our 13th series running Porsche 914's using Assetto Corsa (the original game). I think the original group has been on GRM doing this since the mid 2000's (I could be wrong on this)  and has used various sims/games over the years.

Most recently Aircooled has been making highlight videos for every race and put this together as the series highlights.  We have all levels of experience and ages.  The one thing we try and promote is having fun while treating our on track racing like it was the real thing.  Respect the other racers and live to fight another day (or to fight for the next corner)  The racing was absolutely fantastic!!!  A lot of close racing that is promoted with a HC system that adds weight to the top two finishers with the intent of dragging the "hot shoes" back to the pack and "balancing" the field.  This makes for really close racing through out the field.  A lot like the GT series in real life.  This is what Aircooled put together from the most recent series running 914's that wrapped up 3 weeks ago.

Our next series is going to be using GT4 cars.  We have a well balanced car pack of 12-14 different GT4 cars so we will have a well balanced mixed field of cars.

We are always looking for more people to join us.  We have had 15-16 drivers the last couple races making for large fields and large amounts of fun.  You are sure to find someone to race with.   We run weekly on Wednesday nights.  The schedule is:

People start to show up between 8:30 and 9:00 EST to practice.
Qualifying kickes off between 9:00 and 9:15 PM EST
Followed by two 15 minute races with the 2nd being a reverse grid of the finishing order of the first race.
There is usually an "after party" where we will change the server over to the next track and parctice a bit.

We try and get all the racing down before 10:00 EST as there are many of us east cost people that have to get to work in the morning.

We have our own dedicated server (running in my basement) that is usually up 24/7 so you can practice when ever you want on the server. This is so you can practice under the conditions (the server settings) of the actual races.  You can also practice with others over the week between races.

Again we are always looking for new people to join us.  If you are interested surf over to the sim racing and gaming part of the forum and the first post in the GT4 series thread will get you started

https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/simulation-central/

The basics are you need to get a copy of Assetto corsa (the game) through Steam it is cheep (less then $20 and some times goes on sale for $8.00).  You then need to join Discord (free) for voice chat.  There are some add on to Assetto Corsa that are quality of life things and that enhance the visuals.  If you need help we can help.  Post up in the thread and people will gladly help you.

If anyone is interested we would love to have more people involved as it is a lot of fun!!  There may even be T-Shirts involved.

Lastly a big thanks to everyone that is already racing with us.  With out all of you this whole things would not work.

I need to get a PC. I haven't had time to AutoX the last couple years. This seems like it'd be a fun alternative.

Hope to see you!!  While sim racing is not the same as the real thing it is really good at scratching that itch. We have had players comment that the are "worn out" as if they were just racing real cars. I take that as a huge complement.

I joined the discord but I've been crazy busy. Hopefully this will get me to actually make time to race.

You'll need to log in to post.
