Did you get the brake calipers to turn gold yet?

We have put 100k on a 2007 V70R slushbox which is now at 185,xxx.  It was lowered on IPD springs which I moved back to stock.  The 4C worked and had 2 new fronts but I hated it with the stock springs too.  I could feel it thinking and I did not like the decisions it made.  When I drove the car on washboard gravel road on a camping trip the 4C could not cope and it just slammed the dampers hard at the perfectly wrong oscillation over and over x 1,000,000 no mater what trick I tried with throttle speed or steering..  It sucked-  3 blew up. So I did a 4C workaound that involves leaving the suspension position sensors in place and hacking out the damper valves and then mounting them in a location that allowes them to be electrically connected.  I put Bilstien B6 front and rear with the rear being on adjustable perches so I could get the right rear ride height and unloaded rake.  Massive improvement in ride and handling.  I did the basic suspension wearables at the same time.  Other than oil pugs filters a timing belt a battery and the coil loom that has been it.  It has been a very reliable car and is a fantastic all weather GT.  Now it needs a crankcase ventilation system replacement.  The cracked cylinder liner issue put me off the intercooler/exhaust/tune as well.  Info I have seen on the interwebs suggest they make 230 hp wheel and 290ftbls stock which sounds about right to me on 70f or so days.  It grunts really well.  On cold wet days it feels stronger.  Great brakes, great seats.  Glad you have enjoyed yours!-  good to 300k on the clock. That is my goal.

In reply to Shaun :

The 4C really benefits from having a relearn done every now and then.

I've replaced my front struts once, about 140k ago.  Worth it.  I love the way it launches over yumps in the road and settles smoothly.

No, but I found that if I brake torque it too much to try to melt the ice out of the wheels, it will set a brake overtemperature warning smiley  But ice in the wheels sucks unless you are a vibration enthusiast.

The pads I keep getting suck.  They can be useless in a mile of fun country road.  This is why I have not done any track days and don't plan to.

My friend and I found out about the color changing calipers by chance at a track day (his car). The silver paint just turned gold and never went back. It was a very capable track day car.
