Got some underhood touch ups to do on a junkyard hood. Found the correct color in Dupli-Color from Vatozone. Did not buy the primer.
Can I cheap out and use regular gray primer from Rustoleum, Krylon, etc..? Or should I not risk it and pony up for the Dupli-Color primer?
In my rattle-canning experience, any primer is fine as long as you let it fully, FULLY dry. Like, 2-3x the recommended time on the can. Then there's zero issue with solvents being incompatible.
Or, just don't even bother with primer.
I am painting on top of epoxy resin usually so YMMV, but I mix and match primer/color brands all the time at work. I've never had an issue with them.
