Some guy posted over on HRB about a V12 miata and we all called BS.... until he provided pictures.

Cool! I love crazy chit like that. of course it added like 500 lbs to the mass of the car with that engine, but hey, who cares when you're staring over the intakes of 12 weber trumpets!

385 lb. for a miata motor

680 lb. for a jag V-12

hope the brakes aren't the stockers.

Hood scoop? With the beauty that is 12 throttle stacks sticking through the hood, what the hell would you need a hood scoop for? Given the weight bias, it isn't like you could really drive that thing in anything other than dry weather anyway.

If theres a guy that will stick a 28 litre V16 in a Rover, there's a guy that will stick a V12 in a miata.

Crazy! I like it!

It's the flip side of the coin; usually you see Jap motors going into Brit cars, not the other way around.

How about a clear Lexan scoop... like on old Ferraris?

Yeah, that could work. As long as they don't try to add any of the odd italian-esque or other body kits to the Miata. Since the Miata is essentially a modern Lotus Elan, the Jag engine looks right in a strange kind of way.

Off the top of my head I know that some of the 250 testarossa's had clear scoops. A quick google search came up with this pic:

Then there was the Ferrari 250 GTO 'Breadvan'.

It is considered to be one of the true 39 250 GTO's which, to me, is the most gorgeous thing ever put on wheels. Like this:

Still think the Aussie 55 Chev with the Rolls Royce Merlin wins the debate

OOOH, this brings back a long-dormant childhood memory for me. When I was 9 or 10, I had a book of "dream cars", and one of them was the Rolls Royce Merlin-Engined John Dodd "Beast". I was mezmerised by it; the sheer ridiculousness of it, the ugliness, that fact that it was a friggin WAGON. I wanted one SO badly (I gotta get on that). Maybe this is why I like M Coupes so much.

I went as far as contacting the CA referree concerning putting a viper V10 in my 96 Impala SS. We had it all ironed out until I realized that the level of surgery wasn't kosher with my future plans for the car.

I remember the Motor Trend article on John Dodd's car before it was a wagon (it was originally a Mk I Capri coupe body) and before it had the stacked, ugly headlights (and still had the cut down RR grillework). It was actually attractive then before it became that wagonmaster monstrosity.

Here's some early pics with the coupe body and RR grille (which he got in trouble for, and was told by RR to remove it):
