and whose definition of a "production car" do we accept? I have an unmodified Shelby GT 500 and a C7 Z06, and at the C&D Lightning Lap testing of those vehicles when new, has them both with the exact same lap time. If I add nitrous, bored and stroked motor and a wing, plus slicks and go faster, can we still call it a "production" car? How about my Monster [V8] Miata, that's much faster than my stock SSB Miata. Both production vehicles? Should there be a more accurate term for highly modified vehicles that aren't really "production" anymore?
Production Car? In what universe?
Nobody said "stock production car" lol
Simple answer:
If it was a street car at one point or built off a production car chassis then it's production based, as opposed to a purpose built race car chassis like a formula car, sports racer, or something like that.

That's one of my hot buttons, where someone will modify, oh, a Honda, dumping $20K into the drive train. They then go out and beat a dead-stock competitor and claim that Hondas are superior. (Honda was just an example, it happens with many brands... even Mustangs.)
Yeah... this is an entirely stripped out car, full aero, running non street legal michelin racing slicks, vs a stock Mclaren Senna.. which normally comes with Pirelli Trofeo R, so... very misleading title imo.
