Here's video from this past weekend's Dixie National Tour

I'll be uploading a higher quality version to our site soon.

I'm running out of second gear everywhere I need to find a 17t front sprocket for that KZ.

I think I may have dislodged a retina WATCHING that thing...

I will stick with Beetles...

The car is berkeleying beautiful in person. Mod cars seem to come in two flavors - stunningly clean and well done, or pieces of E36 M3 that are held together with JB weld and Duct Tape. The LeGrand is one of the cleanest I've seen. It was on the "oh.my.god" level that was also occupied by The Lewis' CP Mustang (GRM Article anyone?) and John Thomas's 260Z (which makes me bust a nut every time I see it).

Man that course is open! Love the lane changes or whatever those fast little flick offsets were.

Stupid LeGrand is so quick it was hard to pull a poster frame from the movie. It's all just "OMG--gone"

Thanks! right now, it's a pretty candy-coating and a shiny cockpit and wheels. The engine/rear are coming out now for the differential conversion and engine displacement bump. I'll be making the underguts in the rear pretty (and better) over the next few months.

I think we did Lewis's car when it was owned by Frank Stagnaro, IIRC, however, once they get it painted, it'll be on our shortlist.

I've talked with John about his car...but haven't gone much past that. I'll look at it/shoot it the next time I see it. Thanks for the reminder!

Ha, that was like watching a double speed version of my own run. Good run--that car looks twitchy.

And if we're talking about cool cars from Dixie then I've got to vote for the red oxide CSP Datsun and the purple 94 Protege. I actually traded one of those Mazdas a year or so ago for a Christmas tree.

Hi Will, what were you driving?

The Harvey's Datsun is another one of those golden-oldies that we have had in the magazine several times.

The FSP Protege was pretty cool. Seems like a neat car for the class.

This is what the Le Grand looked like from ground level.

I took a lot of photos during parts of the 3rd and 4th heats- here are a couple of my favorites. Can you tell what they have in common?

I liked the Protege as well. Staggered tires ftw.

I dunno. That Protege seems to be missing something

My favorite car from the weekend also needed just a little bit more in the sticker department...

But it was still painfully cool.

I was in the ESP CTS-V. If anyone has any pics or vids of the car I'd love to see them. I have some very large (~100 MB) Chasecam videos from inside the car but I have no idea how or where to post something that big.

Randy Pager. He runs with us. Yes - it is a VERY cool car/truck.

That car was awesome in it's ridiculousness!

Thank you. I finished 3rd of 3 in class and expected about as much, but racing what I had handy after my regular autoX car broke seemed like the GRM thing to do.

I drove Tommy's Dragon - Legrand Mk25 for the last two events. Per - you'd better step up your aero game for Nationals. The difference between being too slow for aero and getting into the right speed for the wings to start working was night and day. 200hp in a car that weighs 750 before ballast doesn't hurt either. My runs were sloppy and a few seconds behind Tommy and Brianne, but those two come in within 0.1 of each other fairly often.

Here's Brianne running over just the base of cones at the Houston tour - set TTOD and top PAX for the day with this run.

The roll bar on the legrand looks like it's good for ensuring that the first foot of your neck is the only part that is completely destroyed. I like.

Yea, I've got a new rear wing plan and some work on the front splitter to do. Right now, I'm getting the chassis up to snuff with the differential. The second wing element and larger end plates will go on in the summer. Probably work on a diffuser and even more power over next winter.

Brust: I tend to hunch forward when I drive. If I lean back the way I'm supposed to, the front and rear roll hoops create a good, safe cage (for a sports racer)

I've been accused of not having a neck anyway, so I like it. For me too, it's hard to lay back while driving aggressively- even in the plane during the takeoff roll, I'm in a forward hunch. Feels like I'll get there first.
