So I bought a set up used coilovers from a dude a couple of months ago for the turbo car. Bolted them on in place of the craptastic Racelands and the fronts were low. Really low. I dialed the preload as high as it could go and it's still an inch lower in the front that I like. Today I saw something about the front springs being longer and one piece which didn't sound like what I'd installed.
So here is the front setup.
And here is the rear.
So what spring do I need? Anyone have something laying around for trade or cheap? Help a brother out

I have no idea if they'll fit but I have a set of FM springs for NBs that I don't need.
FWIW, I have the exact same number springs on the VMaxx setup on my NA based Exocet, and ride height is fine. Not sure if those springs were Exocet specific, but maybe Keith will chime in as FM is who I bought them from for that car specifically.
I have to ask....do you have the longer shocks on the front? Otherwise, that front spring is about 1/2" shorter than a SpecMiata front spring and quite a bit softer, so it would sit lower. Odd. I think you need a 400lb/in , 7-8" long spring. Edit: The single long springs are about $100 from FM, but I'll bet you can find some used springs from some circle track guys.
More questions. Is the car an NA or NB? What were the V-maxxs on before you bought them? What top hats are you using?
The older models of the V-Maxx had that two spring setup in front. Newer ones replaced it with a single longer spring. FM does sell them if you feel like a little upgrade
Also, what ride height are you trying to achieve? They don't get much higher than 12" in the front. I needed all the adjustment in the back to hit 12.5"
Circle track springs are out, these are a metric diameter that is right between 2.5 and 2.25". The smaller ones don't really fit and the larger ones have a precarious hold on the perch.
That was the normal spring setup for a long time. We went to a single long spring to give a higher max ride height and decreased coil bind potential. The fun thing about coil bind is that it fatigues the springs so they sag, so you move the perch up which makes the bind worse, etc. You can check the health of the spring by measuring the free length - it should be 140mm.
What ride height are you going for, and tell us about the car. Year? Significant weight changes?
Spec Miatas don't run a secondary spring, so that comparison is not quite equal.
93 car with a turbo and intercooler up front so slightly heavier than stock. Bought the setup from a guy who was running a 90 in STS trim. Front height is LOW and adjusted up as high as I can get it. While the rear seems fine with the adjuster in the middle of the threads.
As it sits now, the top 1/2" or so of the tire is hidden inside the fender.
In reply to DeadSkunk (Warren) :
Ha! Yeah, the longer ones are in the front. My suspicion was that the previous owner has assembled the parts wrong way round and put the rear springs on the front shocks and vice versa.
I had a set that the springs had sagged significantly on. I'd get the longer front springs from FM, or do what I did and buy the Fox coilovers instead
We need to quantify LOW with a tape measure.
The springs can sag, especially if coil bound. Luckily, replacements are affordable.
Upgraded springs ordered from FM. They take paypal and since money that lives in a paypal account isn't real money it seemed like an easy way to spend $85.
Now to take the car apart again....I've owned it since April/May and driven it maybe a dozen times. It's a fine car, but living in the garage kind of blocks it in and I'm old/fat/lazy.
Update. Springs arrived Sunday evening (package delivery workers must really hate their lives now).
Monday I took the coilovers off the front end and took the passenger side apart without problem. But the drivers' side! That one fought me. Whoever had assembled these coilovers had gone full gorilla strength on them and when I finally clamped the shaft (vice grips up near the top under the bump stop, then vice grips inserted into the only thing that simply would NOT move (receiver of trailer hitch on the 'burb) I got a breaker bar on the nut....and snapped off the end of the shock shaft.
Cleaned up what was left of the threads, looked into shock extenders (way too big), and decided that thinning the two strut bushings would give me the clearance I needed. Assembled everything back (locktite on the damaged rod) and the car sits like it should. Probably an inch high just now but I want to see how much the springs "settle" before I start fine tuning the ride height.
Took it out for a spin with the Mrs. and it handles FAR better than it did. The turbo makes all the fun whooshy noises while puffing 16 psi into the teeny tiny 1.6 It still isn't "fast" as I now understand these things, but "pretty zippy" is certainly accurate.
Sounds like your motor would do fun things in my Exocet!
