Just bought a 83 schrirocco to run on a 3/8 mile semi banked clay track. Car came with a fresh 1.8 w/ early style fuel injection. Has 4 braided lines coming from what looks like a distrubution box. Injectors are located in reae of head held in by o-rings. Motor has agood size cam and header. Stock bore and cast pistons. This will do me well for a few weeks but I want a bigger one.. Tips ? 2.0 ? 1.8 ? 2.0 block w/ 1.8 8v head ?? bring it.. I am not rich but want to built a monster. do I leave the fuel injection ? my natural pull is to get a carburated manifold that I can bolt a 2 bbl Holley on.. The one thing I will say is it sounds pretty snotty as is, very responsive. Let me know what to look for in the junk yards for "cores" BTW.. previous owner told me to stay away from going more than 6800 rpm with current configuration, this tells me I am probably going to want a 7500 rpm motor..

Thank you for the help

2.0L bottom end from a OBD I '95 golf/jetta with your 1.8L head (big valves a plus) will make you happy.
You can use your current injection setup too.
