Annoyed, ours is due for 40K service, don't think I'll be servicing the DSG if they're buying them back, but if we're keeping it (which I'd prefer) I'll go ahead and do the service, I need to know soon though. The 21st was pushing it, I'll be right at or a little past 40K by then, I know another week of driving won't make a difference, but by the time the 28th rolls around, they'll probably pull another week extension out of their rear.

I'd do the service and keep the receipt. If they buy it back, give them the receipt and push them to cover the cost of the service in the buyback.

As much as I like my TDi Jetta MPG's, the rest of the car is sucking to suck bad. Now granted I do have almost 72k on it in two years..... Putting this crap off is pissing me off for getting something else.

EAD VW.

Wait the week. They've been progressing on court dates pretty well, and it's getting to the final stages, the framework of which was already agreed up. The pressure is on them, and I bet we're going to (finally) get a solid look at the proposal soon.

If they extend it again, get the service done and save the receipt.

You said it yourself: "another week of driving won't make a difference"

+1

The way this has been handled by VW and the EPA is absurd. Is anyone surprised they got another extension? They need to hurry up...my car will need tires soon and I have no desire to put any money into the car.

Well we all know, at least what VW is willing to pay for the cars now. Still no time line written in stone, but seeing as how Sept. or Oct. will likely be the soonest anything tangible happens for owners, I felt it was in our and the car's best interest to have the transmission serviced.

I took it to the dealer I don't like the least, and activated my "We're sorry" $500 VW Dealer Cash, card and used most of it to have VW service the DSG transmission. I usually buy the parts/fluids elsewhere and take them to the dealer, where I pay them 1.5 hours to do the service with my parts.

Seems that the sales and service staff were at least as, if not more, ignorant of the buy-back/repair debacle than even me.

I've got a little service/dealer cash left on the card, with no foreseeable use, maybe I need to go stock up on VW T-shirts, hats, and koozies?

I feel awful for you guys that are dealing with that right now. At the time I was pissed my TDI got bought back in 2014 because I really wanted that car to be awesome and last forever but now looking back, I'm glad they bought it then.

So say I buy one of the offending TDI's because they scoot and get good mileage, and I'm evil and downshift 2 gears when I pass a Prius to offset their low carbon footprint.

Am I obligated to take it in to the dealer and allow them to remove some of the goodness I just purchased?

Is this going to be a part of the next emissions anal probing session I have with DEQ?

Things are progressing, slowly, but they are progressing, but as of right now, "no one knows." If VW has a "fix" they've not made it known publicly. If VW comes up with a fix, it has to get approved by EPA & CARB before it can be implemented. They have until June of 2019 to implement it. So... don't hold your breath.

I was staunchly in the I'm keeping my car dammit! camp. Then I found out there isn't a fix, they don't know if there will be one, and if they come up with one they've got 3 more years of jerking us around before it must be implemented. That left a pretty sour taste in my mouth, then I looked up what they were offering on the buy-back for our car, and I got excited. We're leaning pretty far towards accepting the buy-back now.
