Well, sort of. I'm towing the race car behind it.

The race car has been ready for weeks, but I'm worried my tow vehicle may not be. Am I doing it wrong?

On a related note, how much should I drive this before I tow a trailer to Gainesville with it? It's a brand new engine and clutch.

I'd say drive it now. No use towing it if the car is going to bust right away. IMHO, anyway.

I remember $2011 when age James Novak spun a bearing in his subie-powered 914 before the event, after towing the car all the way from Texas.

I won't be up until friday afternoon/evening.

Tow with it right away. That way it'll be broken in for its match race against the two-man bicycle.

Actually, I might have a chance on that tandem if we can get Tommy to break it before the race!

My $2013 build started with a $2k purchase of two cars and lots of parts. I traded one of the cars for a functional Montero which could tow me to the challenge if needed. All in the challenge budget.

I had a TBI 2.8/5spd Isuzu for a while. I liked it a lot. Hopefully i will get a chance to check out your truck in person if you finish it.

My personal feeling (and my experience as a tech has not dissuaded me from this) is that clutch break-in is a LIE and motor break-in is running it as hard as possible as fast as possible, then change the oil.

Speaking of oil... finding magnetic chunks in my oil pan upon removal is ok, right?

I've witnessed many horrors deep within this car in the last couple days. I'm a bit ashamed.

Made huge progress this weekend and other than fixing a power steering issue and aligning, I'm now down to the some of the detail work. The car made it around the block at 20 mph then fried the tires in 1st gear up the driveway and nothing fell off of it, so I'm calling it good.

Two more late nights in Maryland then beers in the Florida hotel parking lot. See you guys down there!

I've been hanging around you folks too long. Tires need mounted, paint needs applied, I have to open the ends on closed lug nuts just to get the wheels on..... and it will be in gear tonight when we load it. It seams like yesterday, when we used to test before racing. You people are bad influences!

Jeep is loaded up and we are on the road. I need to change my name to DieselFleet, because we are towing down with diesel awesomeness and have a manual diesel wagon as a support vehicle.

Also, it was SNOWING up here this morning. Who the berkeley moved the Challenge to November?

We usually have an annual budget of $1000 or less for tow vehicles. Up here, that buys you an extremely questionable pile of E36 M3. A few years back, we found out the hard way that 1995 Suburbans do not need most engine sensors to run properly!

Snowed here a little this morning. Calling for 24 tonight. I am trying to think of a heater in the trailer to keep the water from freezing.

I want to drop the water in Fla and throw in anti-freeze before we come back.

We've been hanging around you guys too long. The family Suddard has nothing else planned the next couple of nights because we procrastinated too long and now have to make a bunch of Challenge trophies in 2 days. (We do have one done, since Katie wanted to learn to weld this weekend!)
