Well, we finally got around to that road trip to Cali and Vegas. First stop? Legendary, Mazda Laguna Seca. This is the first "big time" track I've ever been to. I've been to PIR and been to a couple vegas deals for track stuff. The staff was super helpful. The cork screw is EXACTLY as impressive as any simulator I've played. I was on cloud nine, mostly because this track has always been my go to track for testing on any sim. But as well because mazda was having a test session and I got to watch! Hhhnnnnnnggggggggg!!!!!!!
They had an IMSA car from the 80's, that wasn't rotary powered. A version of the 787b (in white livery) and the money shot- the current lemans prototype. Watching that P1/2 wrack it's belly pan at the bottom of the cork was awesome. I have pics and video. Will upload shortly.
I have video, but don't know where to host it so I can post here...

Just stick it up on YouTube and embed.
Very cool you got there. Cool place, huh?

Aye!
Laguna is awesome. The entrance road one is one of the steepest I've seen, but then again I am from Florida so that does not say much.
I heard Sam Smith was testing the Mazdas for Road & Track. You lucked out!!
If you are looking for a cool restaurant / bar, take a left when you are leaving the track, then a right on Laurel's canyon rd. Follow that awesome road up and over the mountain---- it will end at Carmel Valley Rd. Take a right, and go for about 3 miles. On the left hand side, you'll find the Baja Cantina----it's a kickass automotive themed restaurant. It's very laid-back, with good food, and a friendly staff.
Baja Cantina
You can always count on Joe for a food recommendation

Ah dangit! We ate at the hula tiki hut in Monterey... not bad fish tacos, but a automotive cantina sounded awesome! Thanks!

That road is steep! Also, do not ever rely on the stupid map apps to get you there. Worthless.
Sam smith you say? Awesome! I saw a driver in the stands by the paddock entrance on our way out. Had his mazda suit half undone. Dark curly hair.
