Can you take a car like that, catch up on the maintinance and come out ahead on the value? I mean past due on schedualed work with a P car is the kiss of death to value. Can you get it, do the work, keep receipts and photo's to prove it's been done and come out ahead?
Maybe - at that price, if it's a coupe, it's nearly a no-brainer if the chassis is clean. The trouble with a reseal is that you can get in pretty deep if you find broken studs or find that you need top-end work. The nice thing is, the car is worth more than 9k in parts if you find it needs too much work.
I paid 13k for mine, put a couple k into it, and it's been fantastically reliable and I have little doubt that I can get my money back out of it.

I'll be in the market in a few months, but if I was buying right now I'd be seriously considering this.
Not affiliated in any way, yada, yada.
My friend has a type r, its a pretty good car for a fwd car. If its an investment, keep it stock, theyre rare and stock ones are crazy rare. I had a mkiv supra that I owned for free, good car. My 2cents, buy a mr2 spyder for $8 turbo it for $5 (monkeywrench http://www.monkeywrenchracing.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_88&products_id=1584 put the other $2 in springs, a rolllbar and some seats.
