A most excellent interview with test driver Valentino Balboni. What the Miura meant, and still means to people. In a strange sense, without even thinking abut it, I feel the same way.

That was a fun read. The author did a great job capturing the passion Balboni has for what he did. I sort of feel the same way as Balboni, though I think the trade in question is more that many of the super or hyper cars are now built as status symbols. It seems that very few people buy they simply for the love of the design or the car, of course the media may have something to do with that perception. There are still those that do but it seems like they are in the minority now.
I also read the whole thing with an Italian accent in my head (that made it more fun).

I've often thought of the XKE as the MBCE, but there is no fault in a Miura. Perhaps it's because my bloodlines run through the isles.
The first time I saw one in the flesh was many years ago at Road Atlanta. What strikes you most is not only how beautiful it is, but how utterly low. I think you could park it next to a Lotus 7 and it would give it a run for overall height.
It sounded as good as it looked too.

Yeah, I've never seen one in the flesh (hopefully one day) but it looks about comparable to the Ford GT40 as far as that low slung, sleek look. Ever stood by one of those? The roof of the car didn't even come to my belt line. I was blown away at how low that thing was.
Hmmm, so the Miura drivetrain could be swapped into a Civic body ...
or maybe a Fiero?
(ducking the rotten tomatoes being thrown by purists)
