Agreed, but we dont really get any lowland snow, its just going over a pass....
So a FWD car would have been fine since it sounds like they groom the road quite well if all seasons still work.
Studless snows in the winter work just fine and should be looked at if there's any serious consideration for snow driving.

Gen 1's are getting pretty cheap, I mean it is just a VW with a porsche V8 lol
Actually, the VR6 versions are still pretty damned peppy and repairable by those of a wrenchy persuasion.
The V8 isn't related to the Audi V8, but is Porsche's own design apparently (it looks very similar, but Porsche did have their own V8 before in the 928, so its not unreasonable for them).
Then again, the VW versions are even less expensive, if a bit less capable in some ways.
Finally, tell your wife to stop driving over berkeleying curbs. Honestly, there's no need and to be honest most cars can clear a curb, just not the low slung sporty ones.
Simply one of the requirements SWMBO had. Its not like shes jumping curbs all the time, the Audi just had a habbit of catching the front bumper on parking stops, and it would try to remove itself.

Likely FWD would be fine, but sometimes the passes get really E36 M3ty as well. AWD was also a requirement from SWMBO. I may do winter tires, but we will see. I use "severe snow" rated all seasons and am generally better than most....

Maybe she should pay better attention at driving and parking?
Sorry, but instead of fixing her inability to take care when driving, she's mandating a taller vehicle is just illogical and I call my wife and friends on that E36 M3 all the time.
