my car is pulling slightly left when i release the wheel. not a lot, but enough to notice the pull in the wheel. it will only turn about a 10 degrees on the wheel and then stop pulling. it is an e30 with strut and LCA suspension. any advice is appreciated.

low tire pressure, dragging caliper, bent crap, bad rack, etc...

almost anything pretty much. but i'd start with tire pressures.

Tire pressure. Swap front tyres.

Bad alignment or loose parts throwing out alignment.

does it stop pulling when you touch the brakes?

All of the above us at least in my town the roads have a ton of "crown" to them making the car pull to the right. I suppose if yours pulls left it's probably alignment.

Caster pull ? ok, goes with alignment.

Not brakes for certain. And tire pressures are equal front and back sets. The LCA's seem to measure out the same on both sides. What can make a rack pull? Isn't it just a gear on a toothed rack? Why would it care to go one way or another?

In terms of alignment... The only adjustment areas I see are steering rack to spindle and strut mount. Steering rack to spindle wouldn't seem to make it want to go one at over another as it really only affects toe in and steering wheel orientation. So if it is the strut mount, what would correct it from pulling left?

In reply to itsarebuild:

Tires can do this so swap the front tires side to side first and check if it still pulls to the left.
Otherwise measure caster angle left to right. Sounds like you need more on the left side.

Tires get swapped all the time. It's a track rat. Problem exists no matter what tire is on any given corner. I will check the caster next time I get the chance. How is this best done since jacking up the wheels to get behind the wheel will artificially change the caster at that corner?
