Never done this before, but I've got a small tank (aluminum 2.5lb) that I'd like to have filled. There are a few places near me that can do it, i know that much. Looking for general advice and I have a couple specific questions:

  1. My bottle has a label that has areas for weight of bottle, weight of bottle full, etc. But they are blank. Like the label was supposed to be marked but never was. Is this going to be a problem for the folks filling it?
  2. I'd like to know if my bottle has a siphon tube or not (so then I know what way to install it). Should I try to take the valve off now while the bottle is empty? Or is there another better way to determine this.
  3. My bottle doesn't have a pressure gauge - should I bring a scale so I know I'm getting the nitrous I'm paying for?
  4. What else do I need to know?

This is for a challenge car (f-dat), and the kit I bought is a used kit made for powersport applications, from a manufacturer called boss noss.

I do hope you have a way to add the required extra fuel in addition?

The tube is easiest to check once it's empty so do that now.

The weight/fill you can do by pressure if you know the temperature. The supplier of the gas will be able to do this. Pressure gauge is helpful especially if the bottle is small, you will be filling it a lot (if you use it)

You don't need to now anything. Just show up with the bottle and ask them to fill it. They will inspect it for damage, valve, weight, and year of inspection.

And I check for the siphon tube simply by pulling the valve off? Or is there a sneaky way to do it without going to that level?

Yeah I know it's a small bottle, but I'm only looking to run like a 15-30 HP shot on a 600cc motorcycle engine that makes about 100 hp currently. So it's not like I'm running 250hp of nitrous at least.

I assumed most of this, but I also what to know what the heck I'm talking about and what I should expect they are doing.

Sorta like taking your car in for new brakes. You assume they will handle it all correctly, but also nice to know you should be able to look down and see shiny new rotors, for example.

I get it, but there's really not much to know.

If it makes you feel better you can weigh it empty then weigh it full. Then you'll know if you got a full tank
