This may end up in the Open Classifieds section but I didn't want to post without a price. I'm having a hard time figuring out what my trailer is worth. The local Craigslist is full of trailers but most are rusted out dual axles that have asking prices that rival new ones. I have a history of underpricing vehicles and having them sell the same day but as this goes towards my race budget, I'd like to get a fair amount.

As lots of you are around car trailers I'd like your opinion. The trailer is structurally sound. There is some visible surface rust underneath but no serious issues. I just repacked the wheel bearings. Tire age is unknown but they don't appear to have dry rot. Leaf spring suspension. No brakes nor lights. Deck is around 12.5'. I'd say it's just about perfect for a small car like a Miata. I've towed around 2400 lbs on it fairly regularly without issues.

What's GRM say?

Around here that would be about $800 asking.

I have a similar trailer, heavier built with dual axle and no brakes that I'm keeping for that reason. When I looked it up I concluded that even though I haven't used it for about 5 years it's better to keep than sell for the $1000 or less I would get for it.

That sounds about right. I've seen a few short wood deck single axles that are rusted/rotten and they are asking ~$1000. My guess is they won't sell for that.

Your audience is limited because of its size, but I would go $1250 if you put lights out back.

Good idea. I've been using a set of Harbor freight ones I just stick on the car but I imagine it wouldn't be very hard to make them (or a similar set) more permanent.

You bring up a good point.. why do people price used trailers so high?
