That fender looks like a winner, was a chrome window trim available?

Trackmouse has it.It's 1978-1981 Datsun 510. Also called Violet or Stanza in other markets. Google "Datsun A10" and you'll get images of all thhe body and grille variations.
If not the stanza coupe, then possibly a 610 coupe. It's got quite a big upsweep on the rear quarter glass. That may explain the lack of a grille and the pile of datto grilles on the hood. I would imagine finding a 610 grille would be harder than finding a 610.

Also shows it to to not be a 610, or stanza. The bluebird (510) has that little line right below the fender top that runs back and it does not arch like the other late 70's datsuns.
It's a 510.......look at the creases and side marker light location....

It's a 77-81 stanza/violet/510, radiator support panel confirms it.
Stanza radiator support is shown in this thread, the outer headlight holes are pretty unique.

This is exactly why I love hanging out here.
I had a 77 510 (A10, Stanza in other countries). Actually it can been seen in my profile garage still I bet. Cool car, and I guess super rare in Oz according to my Aussie friend who was super stoked to see it one day. I guess it was a rare car in Oz as it was a 2-door, and they only got like 200 of them accidentally one year when a shipment destined for another country landed in Oz, and Datsun decided to sell them rather than reload them.
Mine had a cool dog-leg 5 speed transmission, and a L20 engine. I love dthat car.

Not that 510. It was a 510 only in name, and only in America.
Thanks guys, it was really bugging me that I couldn't pin down what it was. My mates older brother had an 81 sedan that I lusted after for many years though, which is why I was so sure it was a stanza

Your friend wasn't wrong when he said it's a rare car in Australia. I've never seen a stanza coupe in the flesh over here, they're out there but man are they like hens teeth.
