What should I do with a crispy 240Z?

Turbo. Rivet-on flares. New windscreen, lights, and electrical connectors to replace the melty bits. Keep the paint as is. Rota Aleicas. Headlight fairings. Proper coilovers (the CXRacing ones don't look too bad). Black Recaro Specialist M & S seats. Nardi wood wheel and shift knob. Sort-of a ratty shakotan build.

Killer track rat potential. Strip interior, Replace wiring harness with stripper track car setup. home made rivet flares, bent lexan windshield, rattle can primer and matte green paint. All the coolness of a z, nothing irreversible for the day when shells are selling for $250k! Doooooo iiiiiiit!!

Small update. I bought the car but I haven't picked up the trailer yet to drag it home. The other problem is I haven't told my wife yet. Currently I have another parts Z under a cover in the driveway. Plan is to scrap the parts one then drop the new one off in the yard and cover it. Sure, I could tell my wife but what fun would that be? I'm curious how long it till take for her to notice.

Anyway when I stopped by to pay for the car it had already been booted from the barn. I took some more pictures and grabbed some of the parts.

You can see how hacked up the rear quarter panel is. Even the inner wheel well has been completely removed.

Other side has a flare fiberglassed on and the matching one came with the car.

As far as the rest of the shell goes it still looks pretty solid and the cheap respray took most of the fire damage. The original paint didn't bubble or burn.

R200 diff out of the 280zx.

Still don't know what the plan is and I'm still going though the rest of the parts. I have enough spare parts to patch this thing back together including quarters that might be usable.

Oh any idea what the original color might be? I can't make out the numbers in the paint code. Middle digit might be a zero. The car was built 10/71. Don't say burnt orange....

It actually looks like it might clean up well to be honest. Looks like a potential steal

edit: Finished the thread.... just put the flares on that.

That looks hot!!! Oh wait...might not be the best choice of words. I agree with kanaric though, keep the flares!

I'm sort of amazed the paint separated like that. Also that underlying orange is my favorite color on Z cars.

Orange with bronze rims may be done to death, but it's still a good look. That's where I'd go.

If you are indeed parting out the Z, I'd be interested in the finisher clips affixed to the body below each tail light. Four in total.

Slap the flares on it and run some bigass slicks.

I'm wondering if with some patience and a heat gun alot of the brown paint won't just peel off in big pieces.

Its like someone slapped cheap acrylic over unprepared paint.

It actually looks way better now that it's out of the barn.
