So I have a t56 and lt1 from a 1997 Trans Am sitting on the floor of my garage.
I was going to install it in my challenge s10 but I ended up selling the s10 to my buddy.
I replaced the s10 with a 1967 c10, but it's already got a 90's tbi 350 and nv 3500 5 speed already swapped into it. It is more than sufficient for the trucks intended use.
That got me thinking I could swap them into the challenge Volvo wagon. But I realized i have no desire to keep it after the challenge...
For some strange reason I have always wanted a 3rd gen camaro. A t56 and lt1 would be a pretty awesome combo in one of those.
I also have always thought a 4 door 2wd xj Cherokee with a v8 and a manual would be a cool sleeper. A set of cheap mustang wheels, maybe lowered a bit...
Anything else cool that i am missing...

I vote 3rd gen Camaro. I saw a nice one the other day, and IMHO they are old enough to look fresh and novel at this point. I want to build one with an LS, fresh paint and 80s vinyl going down the side, to celebrate my redneck roots.
i haven’t looked into it at all though- how difficult is it to fit a 3rd gen with LT1 (or LS for that matter)?
Buy a 3800 Camaro, sell the V6 to Indy guy for his TR3, install the LT1 where it belongs.

Swap it into the volvo wagon then sell it to me at a loss after the challenge.

Or sell to me. That's pretty close to perfect for what I need a wagon to do.
with just a little less dub, that ‘67 would be a bada$$ truck. Just my opinion.
In reply to DocV :
Last I checked the LT1/T56 combo will literally bolt onto stock 305 or 350 and 700r4 mounts, with a stock driveshaft even. Then it's purely a matter of wiring and plumbing. If the LT1 came from a f-body then the front accessories and oil pan should fit too.
LS is slightly more involved but just barely. You need to buy or make motor mounts and find an intake manifold, oil pan and front accessories that fit, either used sourced GM stuff or aftermarket stuff. Then we're back to wiring and plumbing again.
I did lots of reading on what way I wanted to go on my '87 GTA and had even started looking for an LT1/4L60 donor before I decided to just choose the path of least resistance(cheapest) which was another late 80s SBC with all my stock TPI parts on it.
Third gen F-body is a nice idea. How about a box-body Caprice instead, say 87-90? Something along the lines of project Buford.
There is a 16 YO wanting to build an S-10 for the Challenge you could be a very Good Influence. Jeremy , He's in Sanford Fla.

I actually have some s10 v8 mounts I don't need...
Volvo, Jag, or Astro van.
Something older and something European.
G Body Cutlass Supreme (78-87) in 4-4-2 guise
I volunteer for a bidding war against EvanB for the Volvo
The LT1 isn't a super easy swap into a 3rd gen, but isn't impossible. You will have to do some cutting on the sub frame or get a tubular one.
I'm the guy in the S10
This would be a great way to resurrect an old Jag, although that particular one is on the opposite side of the country from you...

I am leaning towards a 3rd gen Camaro. The hard part is finding one that hasn't spent to much time in the trailer park and isn't super overpriced.

G-body of some sort has a nice ring to it. I vote Cutlass wagon or El Camino but there are other body styles / trims that would be nice.
