I thought that these were front-engined, but this one had the motor under glass in back of the driver. Does that mean that there's a battery pack up front?

The seats have 702 motors in them as well as the 128 required to open the doors. That is probably what you saw

Well that totally makes sense. I guess that I was so overwhelmed by the car that my brain took a little vacation. Could have sworn that it had a middie engine in there. He took a hard acceleration run past us, and what was striking was that it seemed totally effortless, quiet, smooth......

Those are cool cars, very expensive though. There is a black roadster one at the dealer near me, $240k. It has been there quite a while too.

There are electric SLS's out in the wild now. So you might have seen a E-SLS.

If it was quiet it probably was an E-SLS, these things sound like a WW2 fighter plane.
